Wreck 'o the week:(Alaska State Troopers News Release) WASILLA...MVA...ON 4/5/03, AT APPROXIMATELY 1315 HOURS, TROOPERS RESPONDED TO THE REPORT OF A SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT 5.5 MILE WASILLA FISHHOOK ROAD IN WASILLA. UPON ARRIVAL BRENT L. CASSIDY, AGE 31, OF WASILLA WAS TRAPPED INSIDE HIS 1997 FORD TAURUS, ALASKA LICENSE DGU427. HIS VEHICLE WAS UPON ITS SIDE LODGED IN-BETWEEN TWO LARGE COTTONWOOD TREES. CASSIDY WAS CONSCIOUS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND EMS ARRIVED ON SCENE AND EXTRACTED CASSIDY FROM HIS VEHICLE BY USING THE JAWS OF LIFE AND OTHER POWER TOOLS. CASSIDY WAS TRANSPORTED TO VALLEY MEDICAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TREATED FOR INJURIES SUSTAINED DURING THE ACCIDENT. IT IS UNCERTAIN THE SEVERITY OF CASSIDY'S INJURIES AT THIS TIME. INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT CASSIDY FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. CASSIDY WAS WEARING HIS SEAT BELT AND BOTH BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. (EIH0)
